Kizzy is a singer, songwriter, actress, TV presenter and poet

She graduated from the prestigious conservatory Berklee college of Music in Boston.
In the United States she performed for president Bill Clinton and David Bowie and she presented TV shows.

After living  America for eleven years she now resides in the Netherlands.

National Song Festival
 

In 1996 she won the National Song Contest (CBU: Caribbean Broadcasting Union) and therefor became the representative of Curaçao at the Caribbean Song Festival in Barbados, where she finished as second runner-up with Song To Life, a Tumba (the national music of Curaçao) written by famous Antillian composer Errol 'El Toro' Colina and Joseph Hart.

Childhood

Kizzy was born in Rotterdam in the Netherlands and grew up on the Island of Curaçao, where as a child she had lead roles in various musicals and plays on television. 

She won numerous talent competitions and became popular for her theater shows, poems and music hits.

Wie Is Er Nieuwsgierig?

While in highschool Kizzy became the presenter of  Wie Is Er Nieuwsgierig, the children's TV show that was part of Atardi Hubenil on the Tele-Curaçao TV channel.

Cocktail - Lamu Lamu

She collaborated with singers Clifton End and Paul welvaart on the album Cocktail,  Lamu Lamu produced by Adeeb Oberoi which topped the chats and became the number one selling album of the Dutch Caribbean.

After Highschool Kizzy moved to the USA to study music, acting, dance and performing for TV.

She studied at Berklee College of Music, Emmerson College and at The Boston Conservatory.

Before graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2013 Kizzy was invited into the Dean's Club for her 'Outstanding Accomplishments as a Performing Artist'.
 

TV and Music in the USA

In Boston, Kizzy became the TV host for arts & entertainment shows on different TV channels, also appearing on E! and VH1.

She performed together with artists like Steven Tyler, Al Cooper, and Glenn Close, modeled in fashion shows, did TV commercials, and hosted public events.

Kizzy hosted the Miss Boston competition and was one of the jury members.

During that same period, she taught performance classes, amongst others at the Arlington Center For the Arts.

As the lead singer of the Bo Winiker Orchestra, she performed for Bill Clinton and at many other high-profiled events.

Top Ten Bachelorettes

Kizzy has entertained her audiences both on TV as well as in the music scene, and she didn't escape notice of the editors of the Improper Bostonian Magazine. 

They voted her one of the 'Top 10 Most Eligible Bachelorettes in Boston' and Kizzy was featured on their magazine cover.

Kizzy was also seen with cameos in popular TV commercials.

Festivals

 

After years of successful concerts and TV shows in the US, Kizzy now lives in the Netherlands where she was born. 
In Holland she recorded solo album Unspoken Rhyme.

Later she recorded Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, which was recorded with a grand LIVE Orchestra.

One of the shows she performed was at the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival.

Some of the other artists that performed at the Festival were Diana Ross, Erykah Badu, Marc Anthony, The Roots, Prince, and Paul Anka. 

Presenting Live Events

Since moving back to Holland, Kizzy has appeared as a host, presenting different events. 

She has hosted events such as the Miss Valentine beauty competition, International Women's Day, Goois Jazz Festival, the Kwaku Summer Festival, the annual '5 mei: Nationale Straatvoetbaldag' event in honor of Liberation Day, the Pearls of the Dutch Caribbean Gala & Award Show, and the 'Hands Off Our Girls - Serious City charity event at Het glazen Huis in Winterland Schiedam.

From POP to Sondheim
 

Kizzy's music collaborations in the Netherlands include her performances with the Wilton Orchestra led by musical director Jean Gruter and the concert led by Annelies Kars.

 

She has also collaborated with the Royal Schiedam Men's Choir; ORPHEUS (Koninklijk Schiedams Mannekoor) and was the solist in the Broadway Musical Concert of GZO (Gemengd Zangkoor Oosterheide).

This concert, complete with a mix of a live orchestra's and an ensemble of Oosterhout was led by muscial director Charles van Veeke.

 

Kizzy, who usually sings her own pop, rock and world music sang musical pieces by Sondheim and Bernstein in front of a sold out music hall of Oosterhout.

  • Cel Voor Cel

 

Kizzy's comical theater shows with songs and poetry about women's rights and emancipation have struck a chord with her female- as well as with her male audiences.

 

She was invited to recite her poem Supervrouwen at several conventions, and it was published in 'Kracht on Tour'.

 

As a motivational speaker she has spoken at congresses, including for UNESCA - SAMUN at the University of Amsterdam and Kracht On Tour.

 

Kizzy is also a regular at different poetry events where she recites her original poems.

She recited her poem  Cel Voor Cel  which she wrote to support those fighting against cancer at events as the Alpe d'HuZes and a the Als Kanker Je Raakt Charity Event.

Queen Máxima 

Kracht on Tour, the organization for Women's rights and emancipation in the Neherlands invited Kizzy for a second time to present her musical column, her poem Supervrouwen and sing at the Grande Finale and the Joke Smit award ceremony in 2015.

Kizzy appeared in the NPO2 TV Series 'Ondersteboven Nederland Jaren 60 - The Woman In Your Life Is You' by Kees van Kooten while singing for Queen Maxima of the Netherlands at the Joke Smit Award Ceremony in The Hague.

 

Other invited guests included Minister of Culture and Education Jet Bussemaker and the Mayor of The Hague. See the TV footage with Kizzy here.

In 2016 Kizzy was joined the cast of the Let's Celebrate You! Theater Tour by Single Supermom as she toured the Netherlands singing and reciting Supervrouwen at several sold out theaters.

OPENBOEK

 

In 2017 Kizzy became the TV presenter of OPENBOEK, a new Kids TV show.
She presented the show with  comedian Quintis Ristie.

Schiedam Steunt St. Maarten!

 

Kizzy was the initiator of 'Schiedam Steunt St. Maarten', a charity event she set up to collect donations and goods for Saba, St. Eustatius and especially St. Martin which was hit the hardest by hurricane Irma.

The show hosted by Marco Spruit Bleeker aired LIVE on Schiedam TV and featured music artists, poets, speakers, historians, schools and politicians with LIVE interviews with Jonathan Johnson, the Island Governor of Saba, and Dutch Kingdom representative Gilbert Isabella.

Kizzy who kept the TV audience up to date about the donations ended with a tribute, singing the National Anthems of Saba, Statia, and St. Martin.

All donations went to the Dutch Red Cross through the notary who was present. The goods were sent to the affected Islands with the  collaboration of the Dordrecht Police Force.

Slavernij En Wij

 

Kizzy presented in the 3 part  NOS & NTR TV Documentary Slavernij en Wij.

Join Kizzy on her musical journey as she discovers more about her roots and her ancestors' history in times of slavery, while she visits St. Maarten and St. Eustatius (Statia) - her mother's birthplace.
